I travelled to Scotland for the launch of Mazda’s first CX-5, so I was keen to drive this recently facelifted model to see how much things have changed. With the latest Kodo design, the Mazda CX-5 is definitely on a drive upmarket in terms of quality and image. This latest model feels quite special inside, but then, as the range-topping example, so it should.
TO give it its full name, as Alfa Romeo do even in the UK, this is the Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde – celebrating 60 years of the Giulietta name and bearing on its flanks the green four-leaf clover which has adorned high-performance versions of the Italian maker’s road-going models since the 1960’s.
THE Citroen DS3 is an excellent little hatchback that looks good and is fun to drive, but the car itself is not the main focus of this roadtest, it’s what’s under the bonnet that is the main talking point. Some say that having only three cylinders can be a disadvantage due to the lack of bottom-end torque, but in this case, thanks to Citroen’s use of a slightly larger capacity engine, I would disagree.
THE radically styled Audi TT Roadster was almost the perfect sports car when it first appeared back in 1999 – great looking, fast and affordable to more people than you might think. But there was just one ingredient missing from the ultimate recipe. Somehow it lacked that seat-of-your pants responsiveness and athleticism that differentiate a ‘sporting’ car from a true ‘sports car’.
THIS is Citroen’s C4 Cactus and let’s be honest, it’s hard to miss, especially in this brightest of lemon yellow colours. It’s officially called Hello Yellow. But the car itself is certainly no lemon having already found favour with numerous buyers and reeling in a bucket full of awards including a Car of the Year gong.
THE Peugeot 2008 has been with us for a couple of years now and I for one, really like it, but the main talking point with this car, is the engine, which is a recent addition to the range. Designed for economy, on paper its figures are impressive (up to 78.6mpg) but how does it fare in the real world – I’ve been finding out.
THE Dacia Duster is a full four-wheel-drive SUV. Its price tag is a clear indication of what you get – a no-frills but fairly rugged soft roader which comes with a proper four-wheel-drive system capable of running in either two wheel drive or all-wheel-drive. It even has a lock mechanism for particularly sticky situations.
