I travelled to Scotland for the launch of Mazda’s first CX-5, so I was keen to drive this recently facelifted model to see how much things have changed. With the latest Kodo design, the Mazda CX-5 is definitely on a drive upmarket in terms of quality and image. THE Citroen DS3 is an excellent little hatchback that looks good and is fun to drive, but the car itself is not the main focus of this roadtest, it’s what’s under the bonnet that is the main talking point. Some say that having only three cylinders can be a disadvantage due to the lack of bottom-end torque, but in this case, thanks to Citroen’s use of a slightly larger capacity engine, I would disagree.
THE radically styled Audi TT Roadster was almost the perfect sports car when it first appeared back in 1999 – great looking, fast and affordable to more people than you might think. But there was just one ingredient missing from the ultimate recipe. Somehow it lacked that seat-of-your pants responsiveness and athleticism that differentiate a ‘sporting’ car from a true ‘sports car’.
