Rockin’ all over Rockingham

The thrills and spills of touring car racing hits Rockingham this weekend.

THIS weekend sees the fight for the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship hotting up.
The cars and their drivers will be in Rockingham, Northants for the latest round of the championship.
There is still time to buy tickets for the eighth round at advance rates.
Touring car races are renowned for their bumper-to-bumper (and other parts!) and the circuit hosts three races on the Sunday.
The weekend is a great event for families with free admission for under-15s all weekend, including access to the paddock and the driver autograph session.
The circuit is the newest in the UK and is laid out in a US-style oval so the whole track can be seen from the grandstands.
For pricing details and to book tickets, go to www.rockingham.co.uk or call (01536) 500500. Prices include grandstand seating.
The Rockingham races are crucial to the leading drivers. Just a point separates Honda Racing team-mates Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal. Just behind them are Airwaves Racing Ford ace Mat Jackson and reigning champion Jason Plato in his Silverline Chevrolet Cruze.
The bumper BTCC weekend features 11 races for the Ginetta Junior, Ginetta GT Supercup, Porsche Carrera Cup, Formula Renault and Renault Clio Cup.
Action around the track includes parachute displays, family Monster Truck rides and, for kids, a visit from Roary The Racing Car, fairground rides, wall climbing and a chance for 14 to 17-year-olds to sample driving for the first time with the circuit’s own race school.
