Subaru promises ‘urban adventure’ with XV

Subaru has aimed the XV fairly and squarely at the European market.

SUBARU has its eyes firmly set on the European market after unveiling its new XV.
The XV has a strategic role to play in the carmaker’s bid to bring “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind” to motorists.
Subaru’s philosophy with the XV is “urban adventure” with a lively drive, yet still giving stress-free urban motoring.
To achieve this they worked hard to blend fuel efficiency with driving fun, wrapping it all up in a distinctive shape.
The interior offers high comfort levels and plenty of space all round, for people and packages.
One area which may well appeal is the ease of getting in and out, made so by larger door openings and higher seats.
Drivers and passengers benefit from the Multi-Function Display unit.
The crossover design features a hexagon grille and hawk eye headlights and is equipped with alloy wheels.
The design of the roomy and interior was selected to bring out the best qualities of the materials and give a feeling of quality.
Powering the XV will be the new generation Subaru Boxer engine, which was introduced last year, in either 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre petrol models. Along with the usual boxer engine benefits, this one has better fuel efficiency and exhaust performance. Together with the adoption of the new Lineartronic (CVT), a newly developed “Auto Start Stop System”, the fuel efficiency was further improved.
Buyers can also select the Subaru Boxer Diesel, which was specially developed for the European market.
Safety was a big factor in the new design.
By integrating the partition windows into the front doors and putting the side mirrors on the door panels, forward visibility is enhanced and blind angles reduced.
In addition to SRS driver’s/passenger’s airbags, SRS side airbags and SRS curtain airbags, SRS driver’s knee airbag are installed as standard.
Also fitted as standard in all models is VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control). Its intervention timing has been optimised and danger avoidance improved. A brake assist function is also incorporated. This provides the XV with world leading collision avoidance and increases driving confidence.
