Silverstone hosts Intercontinental Le Mans Cup

A track at a circuit! Think you can be the best at Silverstone?

HIGH speed racing with a difference comes to Silverstone this weekend (9-11).
The Northamptonshire circuit is to host Britain’s biggest digital slot racing track when the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC) pays a visit.
The UK importer of SCX, the leading slot car maker, is to build a 50-metre six-lane circuit in the paddock for the UK round of the ILMC, the Autosport Six Hours Of Silverstone.
As powerful sports prototype and GT cars scream around the 3.6-mile Grand Prix circuit, visitors can test their skills with scaled down version of the Audi R10 and Peugeot LMP1 cars on the slot track, which has a 10-metre long straight.
On the Saturday (10th), the track prepared by slot car importer AEC, will feature enthusiasts battling it out from all four corners of the country.
With digital tracks, as opposed to the traditional slot tracks, technology allows drivers to change lanes, make pit stops and devise race strategies, just like the real deal.
Weekend tickets are available in advance for £29 for the three days or £23 for Sunday, including paddock access and grandstand seating, available from www.silverstone.co.uk or 0844 3750 740. Children 15 and under go free.
