More space in new Lexus model

Lexus GS 250

The GS 250 offers space, comfort and good handling.

LEXUS has added another new model to its range — the GS 250.
Shown to the public at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China, the car is fitted with a 2.5-litre 24-valve V6 petrol motor with D-4S direct port injection and Dual VVT-i valve timing. The engine delivers 206bhp at 6,400rpm and its peak torque at 4,800rpm is 253Nm. The GS 250 can hit 142mph and zip from zero to 62mph in 8.6 seconds. CO2 emissions are 207g/km and the fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 31.7mpg.
The model features the Lexus Super ECT-i six-speed auto transmission and has a sequential manual shift function. Lexus engineers have designed the system to give faster gear shift speeds, earlier torque converter lock-up and downshift throttle blips, via the different drive modes provided by the Drive Mode Select System.
The GS 250 has a spacious cabin with extra head and legroom front and rear. The console multimedia screen is the largest on the market at 12.3 inches. The car also features the new S-flow air conditioning and a Mark Levinson sound system with a maximum of 17 speakers!
Lexus has stiffened the bodyshell and revised front and rear suspension to give better handling, which can be adjusted via the Drive Mode Select system. This gives three options — Eco, Normal and Sport S. If buyers select a model with Adaptive Variable Suspension there is also a Sport S+ mode for even sportier performance.
But it’s not all power and no notion, Lexus has included its Pre-Crash Safety System, vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitor and Night View to reduce the risk of accidents.
Expect to see the GS 250, including a performance F Sport version, and the hybrid GS 450h in showrooms in June 2012.
